Where is Apt. 911? The answer is, downtown, in the northwest quadrant of Washington, conveniently located to everywhere in the city by Metro rail, Metro bus, the DC Circulator, bike and on foot. The building address is 437 New York Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. That’s almost at the corner of New York Ave. and 4th St., NW. It’s a great location. The technical name of our building is “The Yale Steam Laundry Condominiums.” The complex is built around what used to be an actual steam laundry that served customers in the District a long time ago when its delivery wagons were horse-drawn. In fact, the lobby of the building used to be the stables for those horses.
If you’re walking over or driving by, look for the “YALE” sign on the steel frame over the main entrance on New York Ave.. Look at the picture below so it’s familiar to you. The red brick building on the left is the original steam laundry. The 12 story, light brick and glass structure on the right is the new condominium building where Apt. 911 is located, on the 9th floor, along the rear corner of the building, away from the occasional “honk, honk, beep, beep” of New York Ave. traffic.
Now that you know the address, you might want to click on “The Neighborhood” menu button and read “Getting Around Town” to appreciate what a really great location we’re talking about.
